Inspiration
Based on a painting by Paul Guy Gantnerof an old door set in a stucco wall surrounded by roses.  This painting appealed to me so much – I could picture several scenes in my head and I had to build it.
I love the idea of Tuscany.  I’ve never been, but have seen bits and pieces in photo’s and movies.  I love the sunlight and the stillness, the simplicity and the colour and texture of the architecture.  Again, this is what it’s like to me, in my head.
I used Styrofoam insulation panels covered with plaster mixed with pumice gel and acrylic paint.
I also wanted to have the bricks underneath the stucco where the stucco had fallen away revealing the underlying brickwork.
I loved the wooden door set into a brick arch with a single lamp overhead.
